So I'm taking this Marriage and Family class and I was reading the material that I had to read...and something caught my eye. It's not like I didn't know about it or it was all new to me, but it was just like...wow...
let me give u a little backgroud info. You've heard of the different types of love right?
- Commitment (agape)
- Itimacy (friendship)
- Passion (eros)
Well...a long time ago, when marriages were arranged, thats the order they were in arranged in. BUT...today, since couples make their own mate selection, the order is different. Passion usually starts the relationship, then moves to Intimacy as the friendship develops and finally to a marriage Commitment. In far too many cases, the commitment part of love is the weak link, so when either of the other two loves--passion and intimacy--declines, the commitment to the marriage also declines. which brings me to the "wow" part. "One out of two marriages today ends in divorce, while in the early 1900s it was only one out of twelve!" i thought that was pretty interesting. its nothing no one doesn't know, but i'm just reminded of how times have changed.

okk...must go back to studying.

GYC/CHICAGO

well...i just got back from a week long "trip". it all started last tuesday night. joe and i were flying out of Atlanta Wednesday morning at 6:40am so i figured we should prolly get to the airport around 4:30ish...the only problem was...we weren't going to have a someone to take us at 2 in the morning cuz my mom and my sister were leaving that night to go to Chicago. so, we decided we'll just take the shuttle at like around 12ish...get there at 2 am and then we'll just have to sit around for a couple of hours. but...the last shuttle didn't leave until 9...stupid shuttle...soooo....we ended up taking the 9 o'clock shuttle, getting to the airport at 11. we were ok with that cuz we thought there would be something to do at an airport...boy were we wrong...the freakin airport literally SHUT down at like 10. we couldn't even check in. everything was closed. and it was DEAD. so...we managed to find the Atlanta Bread Company to get something to eat...just wasting time basically. pretty good food for those of you who are stuck at Atlanta airport at 11 o'clock at night.

after we ate...it was only 11:30...*sighhh. we still had 5 hours to kill. soo...i pulled out the camera and we took pictures....enjoy.....

okkk....so we were bored....

we FINALLY got to check in at 4:30am. by this time...we had gotten NO sleeep and were extreeemly tired. it hurt to have our eyes open, but we were able to catch a few minutes of shut eye before we boarded. we had a layover in Philly and then we were on to Baltimore. when we got to Baltimore we had to take the Light rail from the airport to the convention center, so we got our luggage, bought tickets for the light rail and we walked out to where it was. it was sitting right there....so we ran to catch it, only to have the doors close and it drive off when we were just 5 feet from getting on. i was pissed. the next train wasn't for another 30 min. so we went back inside and waited...we finally got on and were getting closer to our destination. we got to the convnention center around 1:30ish i think and we registered and then i went to check in to my hotel so i could SLEEEEEP, but....i couldn't check in until 3. grr...the day just didn't seem to be going well! i went to my brothers hotel room, but for some reason, couldn't sleep! maybe i was too tired to sleep...who knows. anywayz...

GYC was a huge blessing. i decided to get up for the early meetings to hear Peter Gregory. that guy is AMAZING. i've never actually heard him speak before, i just heard he was AWESOME...and he DEFINATELY was!! =) i only missed ONE meeting cuz for some reason...i didn't wake up...but i had every intention to go!! =) anywayz...here are just a few of the pictures i took. i didn't really take as many as i wanted to...but at least i took some!! =)

i'm back...

i dunno how long its been, but its been too long since my last post! i'll try to do better with that next time! =)

basically, all i've been doing is working!! hehe...working at American Eagle is definately interesting! i wasn't expecting crazy hours, but i guess thats just because of the holidays. it will be over soon! i don't think my body knows when to sleep and when to be up anymore. some days i have to be there at 6 in the morning, and some days i have to stay until 3 in the morning. very exhausting, but good money, so i do it! =) its funny when we do the "power close" (staying til crazy hours of the morning) everyone gets frustrated so easily and most of us aren't thinking clearly, if at all. on Wed. night i was asked to come in (on my day off...*sighhh) because we were having a visit from the top dude and the auditor and all that good stuff, so basically we had to make the store look PERFECT. we went around putting things up that we neglected to do when we were supposed to, making sure that everything was "by the books". it was pretty crazy. some were running around making sure the fixtures were sized, neat, and looked PERFECT, others were on ladders putting up Christmas decorations, a few were folding and by 2:30 am....the store looked AMAZING. (only to be trashed the next morning BEFORE the ppl came to visit. all that work for nothing. oh well.) around 1:30, some retard decided he wanted to listen to COUNTRY music...now...country music is prolly THE most annoying music in the world...especially at 1:30 in the morning. the sad part was the dude new EVERY SINGLE word and was singing LOUD. needless to say, we only lasted through 3 songs before we changed the CD.

GYC is coming up! i'm looking forward to a "break" from working and school! from there i'm off to Chicago!! i haven't been back since June, so it will nice to go up there again!!

i was thinking about this past year and i was trying to remember everything that happened and for some reason i don't remember much of it. its gone by so fast...which is kind of sad. i'm looking forward to a new year, with new goals and a fresh slate.

i hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and a great New Year!! =)

time flies...

well...its been quite awhile since my last post, so it is once again time to update. =)

so far...life has been pretty much normal! i've been keeping pretty busy with work and school...for the most part...i DID quit Kohls!!!!!!!! (i know i know...took me long enough) but...i had to wait til i got another job, which i did. American Eagle hired me...and i'm absolutely lovin it there!! its pretty cool cuz its like A MILLLLLION times SMALLER than Kohls...so i don't have to kill myself!! anywayzz...

i was working at Kohls last night and CHRISTMAS music was playing imagine that... i guess it hadn't hit me until then that the Christmas season is here. its crazy how times flies. it doesn't seem like a WHOLE year has gone by...crazzzy. i think for the most part, this year has been a pretty good year. of course its had its ups and downs, but overall i think it was a pretty awesome year. i don't even know why i'm talking about the year being over, cuz we still have like 2 months left. but...last night it hit me! =) i have a pretty busy 2 months ahead of me. *sighhh...gotta finish a bunch of school, work my butt off, travel some, a then relax!!! =)

originally i said that i DID QUIT Kohls....well....i kinda didn't! =) hehe...i will be working at AE and Kohls. *sighh... i thought i quit, but come to think of it...i didn't FULLY quit...hmm...i can't wait for the holidays to be over. if any of you have worked retail during a holiday you'll understand why i hate it so much! ppl are pigs when it comes to clothes. but i won't get into that....i have a mouth full on that one topic!

i wish i had some pictures to post...but i've been extremely lazy when it comes to taking pictures lately...*sighh...so u'll have to wait on pictures =)
